About

Fifteen years under
the hood came first.

Most inspectors learned repairs from a code book. I learned the code book after a decade and a half of making the repairs. Appalachian Integrity exists because that order of operations produces a different kind of inspector.

The story

Boilermaker stock

I come from a long line of boilermakers and welders — the trade wasn't chosen so much as inherited. Fifteen years of hands-on welding: process piping, pressure equipment, the repairs that keep a mill running and the ones that get done at 2 a.m. so the shift can start at 6.

Somewhere along the way I started caring as much about why a repair is right as whether it holds. That road leads through API 577 into the inspector's chair — and to a view most inspectors never get: I know what the person under the hood is dealing with, because I've been the person under the hood.

Appalachian Integrity is the result: a small, independent shop doing API inspection and third-party welding QA/QC for the mills, plants, and contractors of Southwest Virginia — with repair inspection as the specialty, because that's where the money gets saved or burned.

How I work

Three commitments

Straight answers

If it passes, it passes. If it doesn't, you'll know exactly why, with the code paragraph to back it — and what it takes to make it right. No mystery findings, no padding.

Small-shop speed

You call, I answer. No dispatcher, no three-week queue, no B-team. The person who quotes the job is the person on your site.

Practical rigor

Code compliance that respects your schedule. Hold points go where they protect the work — inspection should catch problems, not create them.
